NFL Protests
Wasn't sure if I wanted to post about this but then starting reading and listening to others and felt obliged to give my take on things.....
First off as a massive Raiders fan I was disappointed in the suggestion that the Raiders spent too much time worrying about what to do about the anthem than what to do about the Redskins in last nights game. If anyone watched the game the Redskins were simply the better team albeit it pains me to say it. Did the Raiders take their eye off the ball for other reasons only they will know individually but I think it is disrespectful to suggest that a well drilled team would be so naive.
On the subject of disrespect I heard one commentary that called NFL players mindless thugs and as well President Trump called them SOBs. Clearly these people don't know too many NFL players. These are intelligent individuals who are elite level athletes. Some of them go on to be successful businessmen and television presenters after their successful NFL careers are over. So bottom line they know what they are doing and more importantly they know what they are protesting about. The protest is over what they perceive as a unjust unbalanced approach by law enforcement to the black community. They are protesting the system not the patriotism to their country. Should they maybe do it in a different way...perhaps.... but this is what they have chosen and they have been joined by their teammates in a show of solidarity.
I do not, for one minute, believe that these players and organizations do not understand the sacrifice that all Americans in the military and law enforcement give EVERY single day. They are not protesting these men and women they are protesting the system. The government should focus on trying to address this perceived imbalance and not cause further division through social media outbursts by certain individuals. The NFL has and always will play a key part in people's lives including the military and law enforcement and the NFL has always showed its continued and unwavering support for these services. This will never change.
Lastly I do not see this problem being resolved anytime soon as it appears to be spreading to other US sports the most recent the NBA. The government needs to get a grip before it ends up somewhere no one can control.
I will leave you with this
The president was quick to admonish NFL players but not so quick to do the same with Neo-Nazis both of whom were involved in protest, one non-violent the other not so much.....the paradox is not lost on a lot of people.........
Get this fixed!
